OUR STORY
So, where to begin? It all starts with a ski trip to Tignes in 2017 – their first meeting. For months and months, they flirt in Paris, carefree about the future, simply enjoying life and their happiness. Bertrand, true to his initial plan, flies to New York. But this spark from the trip rekindles a childhood dream for Caroline, who decides to head north to Montreal.
Their geographical proximity brings them even closer. They write to each other, call each other, and despite the distance (because yes, Montreal-New York is like a Paris-Nice drive), they see each other regularly. Then one day, the pandemic hits – a global shock! Stuck for months, borders closed, they can no longer meet. But nothing stops them. Every week, they pester the border services looking for THE solution, and they eventually find the loophole!
Caroline can then leave Canadian territory to reunite with Bertrand. She stays for two months, and as this separation makes them realize how much their relationship matters, they are ready to continue the adventure, COVID or not. That's when the crazy idea of getting married pops up. Bam, a Zoom wedding organized in less than two weeks! A first for many!
This marriage finally opens the borders, and a year later, Caroline joins Bertrand in the US to settle in Brooklyn. Since his arrival in New York, Bertrand has always had a soft spot for Greenpoint, just steps away from the water. Caroline already feels at home there. The lovebirds start their new routine while continuing their travels, which include thrilling surf sessions and underwater explorations.
One day, during a diving excursion in Huatulco, Bertrand decides to surprise Caroline by proposing. Who said things had to be done in order? Bertrand gets down on one knee – well, not really, he presents his slate with his proposal. Caroline answers "yesssss" – well, not really. Overwhelmed with emotion, her diving mask fills with water, and she can't see anything. The two lovebirds resurface hand in hand to admire the whales in the distance – they are now engaged!
Now that you have a bit more context, can you guess what happens next? A re-wedding, in Mexico! Why Mexico? Ah, we won’t reveal everything just yet...
Allez, bisous !
THE JOURNEY
Here are some tips for traveling with peace of mind
Exchange your dollar for pesos before leaving and avoid doing it in Tulum.
Book your transport from Tulum to Bacalar in advance.
If you land in Cancun, don't spend a night there as it lacks much interest.
Tickets are already available, so don't play the last-minute adventurer! The most effective way to book a flight at an affordable price is to use Google Flights.

Once you arrive in Tulum, you have several options to get to Bacalar.
